Pond
Some new pieces for an upcoming show.
I guess I really shouldn't be showing new work before the show opens, but oh well...Honestly the real thing looks so much better, and is much much larger.

It might not seem like it from this post but I've been feeling seriously unmotivated lately. It's actually been quite terrible. It's not a creative slump exactly, because I"m happy with my recent work, I think it's more that I'm ready for a change. It suddenly occurred to me a little while ago (like a lightning bolt) that I don't want to be doing the same thing I'm doing right now in five years. I'm not sure what direction I want to go, and I'm not quite sure how to take the first steps, all I know is I need to feel like I have a more of a direction and something I'm working towards.

  2. There must be something in the air, because I'm running out of steam as well and I keep hearing lots of others saying the same thing. I think sometimes too we get so caught up in being 'so over' what we're doing, but we're afraid to try new things...but its those trying new things that help us grow.

  3. I know exactly how you feel. I have been looking at everything I've made lately thinking 'this is quite nice, but I'm not feeling it' I feel like I'm just churning things out and its not going in the direction I feel like I want it to go in. Like I've got stuck in some Generic Etsy Seller Rut and I'm just cranking out the same old thing? I don't know. Maybe we all need to go for a massive walk through some mountains to clear our heads.

  5. Have you thought about designing fabric? Your designs are so lovely, and I think they would be lovely to sew as well. I use www.spoonflower.com if you care to give it a try.
    Good luck with your changes.....

  9. I live in Los Angeles, but I would love to go to Portland just to see your pretty work in person. You're such an inspiration to me. Hearing you say that this painting for example is large in person, surprises me.
I always imagined your artwork to be on a really tiny scale. I really hope that whatever you decide to do with the future years, in involves art, because I think you have such an amazing gift.
