Morning Time

morning-time
Morning time, another piece from my show.  I love my morning ritual of quietly reading and drinking coffee or tea.  I find I just feel better for the rest of the day if I spend some time before starting work relaxing.  I wish my cat could live with me right now, and that I had a kitchen table, but I do have a pretty nice place to read anyway.  I just finished the new book of stories by Karen Russel, it was fantastic! (My favorite story was Reeling For The Empire, which was beautiful, and creepy as hell.)

My mom just came to town and she's staying two weeks! I don't get to see her very often, and she hasn't come for a long visit like this in a while so I'm so happy and excited I feel like a holiday has been declared! Actually, I've been so busy recently I've been neglecting my morning calm time, and I can feel myself burning out. This is the perfect time to recharge.

What is your morning routine to get ready for the day? I'd love to know!

  1. You know, I am a jumper-into-the-day. As soon as I get up, I have three or four things in my mind that I feel like I need to do RIGHT NOW. It occurs to me, reading your post, that I might be a lot happier if I tried a slower entry...

    1. It can be nice, sometimes it's hard to relax when you know you have things to do though!

  2. I'm usually a jumper, too, but lately I've taken to scooping up one of my pet rabbits first thing in the morning and having a good snuggle before I get going.

  3. I love your work so much :)

My morning routine starts at 5am, when I wake up, make coffee and try to get a few hours of painting in before my husband wakes up, haha. The house is just so quiet then (not that he's particularly loud!). Then I make breakfast and try to make it to a yoga class before settling back in to work once again! My best relaxing time is at the end of the day when my brain doesn't work any more anyway.

    1. Thanks!

I wish I could get up that early! I end up staying up working too late though.

  4. Beautiful work! Makes me wish I had a kitchen table, too. I usually start my day by reading online, but I'm trying to change that to reading offline (though a nice table to read at would help with that). And in Summer I usually start with a walk! That's the best.

  5. My husband and I wake up and make tea together and a little breakfast and share our plans for the day with one another. I used to wake up and rush to do a million and a half things and my husband would spend an hour in bed after waking up trying to get up, haha! I feel like we have worked the past few years to find a happy medium where we can both feel relaxed and energized for the day.

    1. That sounds nice! I'm usually up way before my boyfriend, we have our own morning routines but that's okay:)

  9. Ahhh this is my dream morning, sadly interrupted by an hour long commute. Which I spend reading, so not an entire bust ;-)

  10. It was the good thing to be experienced well in time because there has been lots of stories around the morning time which almost give you everything to start your day, give it for everything which deserve to be. essay writing service
