Friday Bits: Skincare Edition

I love this time of year but I am worn out frankly, and I feel like taking a break from art stuff on my blog for today!

I couple months back I did a makeup post, so I thought I'd do a skincare post, especially since it's winter which is always a time when I find myself thinking a lot more about the state of my skin. Actually I find the ritual of skincare very pleasurable. Like makeup it didn't used to be something I thought about much (though I've been pretty devoted to sunblock for a while),
but now my evening skincare routine especially is something I look forward to, it helps me wind down and feel more relaxed and ready for bed.

Above is a selection of my favorite cleansing products. I recently started using the Origins Clean Energy cleansing oil and I love it so much it inspired me to actually finally do this post. It feels amazing and takes everything off my face like magic. Formerly my favorite cleanser was the Aveda Purifying Gel Cleanser, I think I've used it since I was 13, and I've always had pretty good skin, so it will always be a favorite. Also special mention to the Origins Clear Improvements charcoal mask, it's the best thing ever! It's the only mask I've ever used that I can actually see a difference after I use it, my skin looks brighter and healthier right away.

As far as special treatments I like but don't love anything at the moment. The Kiehl's is okay, but I feel like I'm still looking for the nighttime eye cream of my dreams. I use the Wild Carrot Herbals eye cream for the daytime, it's made in Oregon and smells so wonderfully of roses. I've been liking the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask latey since my skin gets so dry in the winter. Lastly I do love the Nelsons acne treatment gel, it might be my holy grail breakout treatment. It's all natural but it works!

Anyway, what are some of your favorite skincare products right now? (especially your favorite eye creams!)

  1. This has given me some great skincare inspiration! My skin type is an awful combination, but I was recommended Origins products before, that charcoal mask sounds great! Thanks for your help choosing some new brands! :) Katie

    1. No problem, glad you got some ideas:) I think skincare is so individual it just takes trying a lot of things to find what works for you.

  3. That charcoal mask and overnight face mask sound brilliant, I'm going to keep an eye out for those. As for my skincare regime, I use the Boots Botanics Kew Garden Extracts range. Everything works wonderfully (including the eye creams!) and has got all lovely ingredients too : )
Just to say as well, I adore your artwork, I'm doing my honours degree in Fine Art right now and your art is very inspiring.
