Friday Bits

After wanting to try making them from scratch for a few years I finally made english muffins! No lie, they are a bit of a faff, but they are sooo delicious it's worth it if you have time. I originally tried them with a recipe I found in Pinterest that didn't take quite so long, but results were disappointing. A long yeast proofing time really makes all the difference (so does frying them in butter rather than oil). This is the recipe that I'd recommend, I've made those twice and they've turned out fantastic. Plus it makes enough muffins for a week!

I have to say, I miss blogging more regularly, more for myself to remember what was going on in my life than anything! I may make more "what's inspiring me at the moment" type posts again, and what's inspiring me at the moment (or keeping me fueled) is baked goods!

  1. Those look amazing. And your stove is so impressively clean!

  2. These look amazing! I love reading all your blog posts (of all description) so keep them coming! I want to get back into baking bread. I used to bake a lot, and I'm not sure why I stopped. I can't wait to get kneading again. X Jane

    1. It's easy to get too busy for bread. I go though phases with it.
      Glad you enjoy reading:)
