Apples

I don't know about you but this time of year stresses me out with all good produce that fades so fast! I feel like I have to enjoy it as much as possible! I have been baking & cooking like crazy. (Every year I say I'm going to can, but that never seems to happen, maybe next year). There really is nothing like a good fall apple though, they are so satisfying on bright Autumn days, like today. Over the weekend I went to hood river and split a huuuge box of apples with a friend, so I have a lot to work with! Yesterday I made apple crisp and this apple cake, which turned out amazing.

I'm slowly getting back into work, or what I think of as my real work, i.e. drawing, and it feels really, really good. I've had something of a dry spell, there was just too much going on this summer and it's been hard to focus. I need long stretches of doing nothing at all in order to get in the right frame of mind and to feel inspired. That might sound strange to some people, but that's how I work!
(I left a letter off 'hooray', oh well)

  3. Oh, I LOVE your little apple frolic of a drawing (And her dainty little outfit, how perfect for the season)!! I thought perhaps 'hoory' was a sweet little colloquialism, or other! tee hee! I think you should start one, by golly!

I know how you feel about working, I need that down time for brain storming and day dreaming and putting my ideas in order, too!

    Happy Autumn to You!!

  4. Very beautiful drawing. And the apples, yum. I feel like I need to go make some homemade applesauce now, it's been a few years since I've made that, but you've inspired me.
    Happy Fall and Apple Picking.

  5. I would love to have an apple tree (or even a garden) but in London that is considered a luxury! I love your paintings, they always inspire me to keep drawing.

  6. You could pretend you meant to write "hoory" as in "Hooray" it's apple season but "hurry" before it's almost over!

I am buying the Menagerie book for my four-and-three-quarters-year-old niece's birthday present. And one for myself..
