Like I said in this post I'm not really into playing video games at all, but I do enjoy the ones that take place in a well designed, beautiful little world. My boyfriend IS into playing them, so through him I get to see some really neat ones.
Proteus is a new game that is
“procedurally generated”, which I guess is the hot new thing. That means that the whole world of the game is created as it's being played, rather than being pre-designed. Even though the graphics are simple I think it's very beautiful . Also the music is gorgeous.
Braid is one that's been around for a while and I know it has a lot of fans. The exciting and innovative thing about it is that you interact with time itself, and time behaves differently in each level. From watching over my boyfriends shoulder I feel like if I did try to play this one it would confuse the hell out of me, but I do like the look and feel of it. There is something rather melancholy...maybe it's the music!
Have you played any of these? Are there any other interesting games I should know about?
